Day 1:

 

05:30

You will be picked up at your hotel/homestay and depart for Todos Santos.

07:00

Breakfast break in Tecpán.

07:30

Continue to San Francisco El Alto.

10:00 

Arrive at San Francisco El Alto.

 

This small highland town built on a very large, steep hill which is located in the small Guatemalan department of Totonicapan. Situated at 8,500 ft above sea level, this village commands a great view of the enormous Quetzaltenango valley. The Friday market is the largest native market in Guatemala.

11:30 

Continue to Huehuetenango.

13:00

Brief City Tour in Huehuetango. FREE TIME for lunch.

14:00

Continue to Chiantla, a lovely highland town just outside Huehuetenango, famous for its leather and bronze products, and its Silver Virgin Mary, dating back to the 17th century.

Afterwards

Continue to Todos Santos.
  **Please note that accommodation is rustic and mostly lacks private bathroom and/or hot water**

Optional:

Visit Maya Mam Shaman to learn about traditional beliefs and ceremonial rituals.

Day 2:

Early morning hike to nearby view point Las Letras, from where you can enjoy a magnificent view on the Todos Santos valley.

Breakfast (not included).

FREE TIME to stroll over the local Saturday morning market.

  Most notable are the men of San Juan Atitán, dressed in red shirts with floppy collars, red head cloths, hats with ribbons & short white pants.

Continue to Huehuetenango.

  Stop at Ix'Kiak, a very poor village close to Todos Santos, in order to donate used clothing, sweets, medicine, toys, etc.

13:00

Lunch stop in Huehuetenango.

15:30

Visit San Andrés Xecul and its colorful church.

16:00

Depart for Xela.

Stop in Salcajá ("agua clara"). Visit the oldest church in Guatemala, observe local weavers and taste some of the local drinks.

17:30

Arrive in Xela.

19:00

Dinner (not included). Overnight.

   

Day 3:

Breakfast (not included).

Half-day tour Xela Pueblos - visiting Fuentes Georginas with its deliciously relaxing waters set amongst verdant jungle-covered mountains, Cantel (Copavic glass factory), Zunil (Maximón sanctuary) and Almolonga valley.

Depart for Antigua.

18:30

Arrive back in Antigua.
